As consumer expectations rise, packaging is no longer just for transport. Appearance, integrity, and security now strongly influence how product quality is perceived.

For manufacturers, damaged packaging during logistics can reduce product value before it reaches the shelf. This solution addresses those risks by optimizing packaging from a material perspective, tailored to real production and distribution conditions.

Challenges & Requirements

  • Damage during transportation
Paper boxes alone were prone to impacts, causing crushed corners, scratches, and box openings before shelf display.

  • Lack of tamper resistance
Without an outer wrap, packages could be easily opened, reducing product security and consumer confidence.

  • Multiple box sizes
Four different product sizes needed to run on one automated line, preferably using a single packaging material

Packaging Material Planning

POF Shrink Film
A laminated film structure was selected to meet both functional and visual requirements. By combining multiple material layers based on product characteristics, the packaging effectively reduces the impact of air, moisture, and light, helping prevent product deterioration during storage and transportation.

Protecting Box Corners and Overall Appearance
Boxes are easily opened, corners are prone to bending, and carton surfaces are easily scratched, which can reduce the perceived product quality. By applying POF shrink film, external impacts and abrasion are effectively minimized, helping maintain box integrity and protect the product throughout handling and distribution.

Suitable for Multiple Sizes
Careful film selection allowed all four box sizes to be packaged using the same packaging machine and film roll, ensuring stable performance and reducing changeover time.

Tangible Improvements Achieved Through Material Optimization
Through application-driven packaging material optimization, the manufacturer achieved the following results:

  • Product appearance remained intact throughout transportation and shelf display
  • Consistent and uniform packaging presentation
  • Improved product visibility through high film transparency
  • Enhanced perceived product value through refined packaging quality
  • Stable packaging performance across multiple product sizes without disrupting production flow

Through this packaging material solution, the customer successfully improved product protection, achieved consistent packaging presentation, and maintained stable production performance across different product sizes.
